Puffed Roses

I saw this recipe on Facebook, and I went ahead and tried it. I don’t know if it’s so much a recipe, as a test for skill and patience. When I saw the video on Facebook, I thought to myself…well…easy enough: one apple, one sheet of puff pastry, apricot jam, cinnamon. Dip the apple slices in a bowl with lemon juice. Put the bowl in the microwave for about three minutes. Cut the puff pastry into slimmer slices. Use the apple pieces to ornate the puff pastry. Fold. Roll up. Fifteen minutes…at the most. Well, it took me about two hours to put everything together and roll up these puffed roses. And here’s the end result:

Beautiful…indeed. Too beautiful to eat, maybe, but….beautiful enough to look at.
